Hi Ya'll Greetings from Hickory Hollow

Hi! I thought I should introduce myself and give you a glimpse into my life and why I wanted to create soap.  And we are trying some new things here at Hickory Hollow Soaps to not only create the best handcrafted soap possible but to give our customers a glimpse into our soaping world and our home.

So, hi, again! My name's Leigh and I make handcrafted soap.  See that picture? That's me and my husband (and soapy partner) Robert.  I will introduce you to him in the next blog post.  

I started making handcrafted/homemade soap during a period of my (our) lives when we were going through some things, and I needed an outlet for stress.  No, it wasn't problems between Robert and I, but things we were dealing with as a family and at a result of those family issues, I ended up with a lot of time on my hands.  I also was getting really tired of dry skin.  No matter how much water I drank or what products I used, I still ended up with dry skin. Then there's the fact that a lot of products has so many unhealthy things in them, I wanted to be healthy and use healthy products. So, make soap it was!!

Here we are a year later, and we have a soap making business. Whew! It has been a whirlwind and a lot of hard work.  It's great bonding time to work together like we do.  

More about me...I am a wife, mom, daughter, sister, aunt, but most of all I am a child of God.  Robert and I have one son, Zach who is 15....teenage years, how is that possible?? He's a great kid and we are blessed! We also have a cat, Evee.  We live in beautiful Western North Carolina!  I am originally from here, but Robby-roo is from Indiana.  Ironically, we met at a toy store. True story and one I may share sometime.  I also have a part time job as well, so to say I'm busy is an understatement.  The goal is to eventually be able to make soap and skin care products full time.  

That's a little bit of my story and I hope introduces me to you, the customer.  Stay tuned for our weekly blog posts! We will be doing at least one a week.  I plan to not only give you a glimpse into our soapy world and the products we make, but to allow you to get to know us and trust us.
